For the second instalment we welcome our first international guest Alexander Rishaug from Norway and three of my favourite gentlemen & scholars of fanciful noise—Pimmon, Jon Hunter and James Brown.
James Brown works collaboratively with theatre companies both locally and internationally as a composer. Recent composition and sound design commissions include Jane Campion’s forthcoming Top of the Lake TV mini-series (with Mark Bradshaw); Matthew Day’s Intermission, Cannibal and Thousands dance solos; Victoria Hunt’s Copper Promises (with Densil Cabrera and Horomona Horo); and Company SOIT’s Café Prukel and Nomads (Belgium/Vienna). He's currently working on a solo album of ambient progressive music.
Jon Hunter is a Lithgow born artist residing in Sydney. He explores magnetism, time, electricity, popular and unpopular music through performance using guitars, computers and on occasion metal sheets, springs and wire. His approach to performance and music is often to start with a goal and introduce obstacles.
He performs with The Holy Soul, Model Citizen, Singing Skies and countless more collaborations. He records and mixes lots of music for other people and co-presents Song X on 2ser.
Alexander Rishaug is a sound artist and musician from Oslo, Norway. His sound is melodic, melancholic and often quiet. Rishaug explores tones and textures through the use of electronics, field recordings, toys or simply just playing around with an instrument. Rishaug combines the intimate knowledge of his musical equipment with the curiousness of a amateur.
Rishaug was a part of the improv collective ARM (1996-2006) together with Arne Borgan and Are Mokkelbost and also collaborated with visual artists such as Marius Watz, Erich Berger, Pekka Stokke, HC Gilje and Andreas Paleologos. Rishaug has remixed metal innovators such as Ulver and She Said Destroy, long time noise geeks Jazkamer and Bjørn Hatterud and Conrad Schnitzler's collaboration project Hirchgebrüll.

Tina Havelock Stevens is an interdisciplinary artist who works across music, sound, observational film making, video installation and performance. As her incarnation “White Drummer” Tina taps into the frequencies, the electromagnetic pulses of places and times and the inexplicable. Sturdy beginnings in seminal post-punk band Plug Uglies through to her current collaboration The Mumps, and many other lives along the way has culminated in her art practice of solo and durational drumming. Tina turns her work into different formats for diverse purposes such as live spontaneous composition to film, installation and projection. The works are usually site specific occurring in unusual natural environments, extraordinary urban structures or gallery spaces. The performances are not framed by their location, but inhabit them visually and sonically.
Paul has had over 40 releases on every format for international labels including Fat Cat (UK), Room40 (AU) & Tigerbeat6 (US). He has toured extensively and collaborated with numerous arstists including Ambarchi, Fennesz, Rehberg and Rowe as Afternoon Tea. His latest release, Procrastination, a collaboration with Italian artist Fabio Orsi, is released on UK/Japanese label Home Normal.
Paul also works at ABC Radio National as a producer/presenter/sound engineer and hosts The Quiet Space.
