Moments of Grey

2002 - Handheld media object

Moments of Grey is the outcome of a speculative project that researched and developed prototype responsive objects which evoke what might be found near the sea.

As children most people have listened to the sea in a shell at the beach. I am exploring this type of experience in order to create an almost magical object that is made alive by technology.

ROBIN PETTERD holds a PhD from the Tasmanian School of Art, The University of Tasmania. He has worked in the area of media arts for close to 10 years. His recent practice has focused on evoking the sensory experiences related to being in and near the water.

His work has been included in events in Australia, the USA and across Europe. Recent exhibitions of his works include a solo show at CAST Gallery, Hobart and inclusion in the survey show Fathoms at Hatton Gallery, United Kingdom. His most recent major piece, Brushes of Liquid, is permanently installed at Dismal Swamp on the North West coast of Tasmania.
